    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Kenneth reads a letter about his mother&#039;s health. He learned that the cancer was completely removed during the operation. Victorine Smith had become the housekeeper because of Mae&#039;s failing health. Kenneth had problems with the Huiat Church. The evangelist would have instruction in the Bible at night and then help them prepare their lessons for school. The governor decided this was against the law and ordered the preacher and the chapel to be closed. Kenneth had to intervene to straighten things out. ]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Margaret and Mrs. Bulkley visit an old Buddhist temple in Nakhon and did some sightseeing. The temple was beautiful and supposedly contained relics of the Buddha. Margaret further describes the temple and its surroundings. The history of the temple was of a particular interest because it revealed people&#039;s lives for centuries. There was a stone with writing in a language that had never been deciphered (a scholar later came and deciphered the writing), and the Brahmin priests were still at the temple. Kenneth talks about their time with the Sheehan family, and the tin mine, the children&#039;s growth and behavior, and Margaret&#039;s handsome qualities and manners. ]]></dcterms:description>

Kenneth wrote assuming that his mother had already been dead for some time now. He had an extraordinary degree of extrasensory perception, and he did know at the moment his mother died. He was sitting unsually quiet, and Margaret asked him what was wrong. He responded that his mother had just died.     <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Kenneth could visit people in the country about once a year, and the postal system was reliable. He decided to start &quot;epistolary evangelism&quot; and wrote letters to the people he visited and other interested persons. This allowed him to keep in touch with them. Margaret comments that Kenneth was following the apostle Paul&#039;s pattern. Years later the Landons realized that these letters were very treasured. Each letter was an event, and the recipients would read them over and over. Many people lived in isolated areas and had no communication with the rest of the world. Many wrote asking for those letters. ]]></dcterms:description>
