    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Ma Pawm and Ah Sim came to the Landons very poor and not so nice looking. Margaret taught both of them many things and they greatly improved. Ma Pawm was fond of Kenneth and even more so of Carol when she was born. There was a lot of work to do, and the servants were noisy, but they improved in this as well.  <br />

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Margaret tells of the day they left Phuket and their visit to Phangnga, where there was a cave with a temple inside. Kenneth recalls war stories associated with the area and tells of his visit to one particular island. It was eerie. He tells of his long visit inside the cave, how he got stuck at a dead end on his way out, and spared himself another twelve hours of walking by taking a huge risk of jumping down to where he needed to go. He took many pictures of the cave, especially the cathedral inside. He tells of the US soldiers hiding in this cave during WWII and being perfectly safe from the Japanese. Kenneth had told the OSS about this cave.]]></dcterms:description>

May her son see its star?&quot; He bribed the doorman with a dollar, who then called him in, and there was Rex Harrison in a pair of jockey shorts with his wife and attorney and one of the people in the play.     <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Once, Kenneth was in a Chinese cookshop to get some cookies, and elephants and the mahout were nearby. As he was holding his cup in his hand, all of a sudden a great big trunk came sliding in over my shoulder and sucked up my cookies. They all just went right off my plate.Kenneth looked up, and the elephant was looking at him benignly. The elephant had lifted the entire roof of the building up onto his shoulders. Kenneth had sensed the roof going up, and noticed dust coming down into his cocoa, but before he could make sense of that, this sinuous trunk had slid over his shoulder and sucked up his cookies]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Kenneth inaugurated a system of smiles with the two children. One day, when Peggy was fussing and crying, with the tears running down her face, her eyes all red, Kenneth shouted at her to &quot;Smile. Smile!&quot; Peggy couldn&#039;t manage it, though she tried hard, so to obey her Daddy, she put a finger at each corner of her mouth and drew it up so that she would look like she was smiling while continuing to weep. Kenneth couldn&#039;t help laughing &quot;at her invention.&quot; Margaret felt the regular sunbaths the children were taking were improving their health. She tells of Peggy and Bill on vegetables. What rules Kenneth and Margaret had, they enforced. Their philosophy was not to have too many rules, but to enforce those that they had. ]]></dcterms:description>
