    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Margaret finally got a good garden book, a great event. She still has it, A Garden Book for Malaya by Kathleen Gough. Margaret now had 120 house plants. There were ferns, amaryllis, lilys, honolulu creepers, bougainvillea, and other small plants. As for the trees, there were cinnamons, guavas, breadfruits, jackfruits, rambutans, durians, etc. Margaret believes most of these trees were planted by Dr. Dunlap. ]]></dcterms:description>

It turned out that Hadley was the candidate secretary of the Presbyterian mission board.  <br />

They found a wonderful place and purchased a set, with the business man being trusted to send the missing pieces when they came in. <br />

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Ma Pawm and Ah Sim came to the Landons very poor and not so nice looking. Margaret taught both of them many things and they greatly improved. Ma Pawm was fond of Kenneth and even more so of Carol when she was born. There was a lot of work to do, and the servants were noisy, but they improved in this as well.  <br />

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Margaret tells of the day they left Phuket and their visit to Phangnga, where there was a cave with a temple inside. Kenneth recalls war stories associated with the area and tells of his visit to one particular island. It was eerie. He tells of his long visit inside the cave, how he got stuck at a dead end on his way out, and spared himself another twelve hours of walking by taking a huge risk of jumping down to where he needed to go. He took many pictures of the cave, especially the cathedral inside. He tells of the US soldiers hiding in this cave during WWII and being perfectly safe from the Japanese. Kenneth had told the OSS about this cave.]]></dcterms:description>
